Las Vegas Dog Training FAQs
We've got answers!
How do I get started?
Book a free phone consultation. Call (725) 550-5066 or send the form at the bottom of this page, tell us about your dog, and we will recommend the program that fits. You can read about each program on our dog training services page first.
Which areas do you serve?
The whole Las Vegas Valley, including North Las Vegas, Summerlin, Henderson, Enterprise and Paradise. See the areas we serve, or call if you are not sure we reach you.
Do you have a facility I can visit?
No. We are a service-area business with no public location. During a board and train, your dog boards with one of our professional trainers and trains out in the real world. The best first step is a phone call.
Who will be training my dog?
Off Leash K9 Training of Las Vegas is owned by Ernesto Rincon, a Marine Corps veteran and lifelong Las Vegas local, and your dog is trained by Ernesto and his team of professional trainers. Read more on our About page.
What do other Las Vegas dog owners say about you?
We have more than 90 Google reviews with a 4.9-star average. You can also read full write-ups of real dogs we have trained in our success stories.
What training programs do you offer?
Three board and train programs: the 2-Week On-Leash Program, the 3-Week Off-Leash Program and the 3-Week Reactive Dog Program. Each one is explained on our services page, and every price is on our plans and pricing page.
How much does dog training cost?
The 2-Week On-Leash Program is $3,485. The 3-Week Off-Leash Program and the 3-Week Reactive Dog Program are $4,485 each. Every program includes an e-collar and a lifetime refresher. See plans and pricing for what each one covers.
Which program is right for my dog?
Most owners choose the two-week board and train. If you want your dog reliable without a leash for hiking and camping, look at off-leash dog training. If your dog overreacts to other dogs, people or animals, the reactive dog program is built for that. Not sure? Call us and we will help you choose.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes, payment plans are available. Call (725) 550-5066 to learn more about payment options, or start from our plans and pricing page.
Do you offer private lessons?
No. All three of our programs are board and train, where your dog boards with a professional trainer and trains every day. Our board and train page explains how it works.
What is a board and train?
Your dog boards with a professional Off Leash K9 trainer for two or three weeks and trains every day, until the commands become habits. Then your dog comes home and we show you how to keep it going. More on our board and train page.
What will my dog learn?
Six core commands: come, sit, down, place, heel and off, with sit, down and place held until you release your dog. The three-week off-leash program adds reliability without a leash.
Where does the training happen?
Out where your dog actually has to behave: busy outdoor malls, shopping centers and parks around Las Vegas. Dogs in the reactive dog program work at a calmer level, such as local parks at off-peak hours and neighborhood walks.
Will I get updates while my dog is away?
Owners’ reviews mention it again and again: texts, pictures and videos of their dog’s progress during the stay. You can see what the finished training looks like in our success stories.
What happens when my dog comes home?
You get an in-depth, one-on-one session with your trainer, so you are confident handling your dog’s new skills. Every program also includes a lifetime refresher. See plans and pricing for what each program includes.
How much time will I need to spend practicing afterwards?
You do not need to set aside a block of time every day. We teach you how to work the training into your normal routine: walks, mealtimes and trips out. Our board and train page covers the handover.
My dog barks and lunges at other dogs. Can you help?
Yes. Our three-week reactive dog program is for dogs who overreact to other dogs, people or animals, whether that comes from aggression or fear. Read about a Cane Corso who barked and lunged at every dog and person.
Can my dog really be trusted off leash?
That is what the 3-Week Off-Leash Program is for. It includes everything in the two-week program and then builds reliability without a leash in open places with real distractions. See off-leash dog training.
Do you train small dogs?
Yes. Our training works for dogs of any size and any breed, as long as they are at least 20 weeks old. Our success stories include dogs from a cockapoo to a Great Dane.
How old does my dog have to be to start?
At least 20 weeks old. That is our minimum age for every program. If your dog is old enough, the two-week board and train is where most dogs start.
Do you have a puppy program?
We do not run a separate puppy program. Dogs can start any of our programs at 20 weeks. If your puppy is younger than that, Call (725) 550-5066 and we will tell you the best time to book.
What is an e-collar and how does it work?
It is a collar with a remote that the handler holds. It gives a mild pulse, closer to a tap on the shoulder than a shock, and we use it to get your dog’s attention and keep it focused on you, never as a punishment. An e-collar is included with every program on our plans and pricing page.
Will the e-collar hurt my dog?
No. Before we use it on your dog, we will put the e-collar on your own arm so you can feel how mild it is. We are dog trainers because we love dogs, and we would never do anything to a dog that we would not do to ourselves.
Will my dog always have to wear the e-collar?
The goal is for your dog to need it less and less at home and in familiar places, as the commands become habit. We still recommend using it in new or unpredictable places, like an insurance policy: better to have it and not need it. That matters most for off-leash training.
Will my dog hate wearing the e-collar?
Most owners are surprised to find the opposite. Dogs quickly learn that the collar going on means going outside, training and playing, and many come running when they hear it switch on.
