Reactivity

Straight answers about a reactive dog

A reactive dog is not a bad dog. It is a dog whose “fight or flight” response fires at a trigger, whether that is another dog, a person or an animal, and it can come from aggression or from fear. Our 3-Week Reactive Dog Program is on leash and takes more time on purpose: the goal is a dog that can stay calm and focused when its triggers are around. Dogs without reactivity usually start with the two-week board and train.

What The Program Addresses

What the reactive dog program works on

Triggers, one by one

Other dogs, people or animals. The program addresses the specific triggers your dog reacts to.

Impulse control

The six core commands, practiced until your dog can hold them while a trigger is in view.

Confidence

Many reactive dogs are worried rather than angry. Building confidence is part of the plan, not an extra.

Controlled settings

Training happens at moderate distraction levels, such as local parks at off-peak hours and neighborhood walks.

Safety first

The program is on leash and takes three weeks, because a reactive dog needs more time and a careful pace.

Real Results

What Las Vegas dog owners say

“Our German Shepherd mix was showing dog reactivity and struggled with listening and following commands the first time. After her 3-week board & train, we saw such a huge improvement. I now feel confident handling her on walks and even at the vet.”

Michelle GallegosVerified Google review

“She’s highly reactive and once she gets barking it’s hard to get her to stop. … She listens so much better and doesn’t react as much as she used to when seeing other excited dogs or people.”

Savannah MckieVerified Google review

“They didn’t listen to our commands, had serious leash aggression, and just needed overall behavior improvements. … We can actually take our dogs on walks without being stressed and embarrassed about their behavior.”

Reactive dog training questions

What counts as a reactive dog?

A dog that overreacts to a specific trigger, such as other dogs, people or animals, by barking, lunging or trying to flee. It can come from aggression or from fear. The 3-Week Reactive Dog Program is built for both.

Can you cure my dog's reactivity?

No honest trainer can promise that. What the program works toward is a dog that can stay calm and focused when its triggers are around, and an owner who knows how to handle those moments. That is a real change in daily life, even if the dog never becomes a dog-park regular.

Why is the reactive program on leash?

Safety and control come first with a reactive dog. The program focuses on on-leash obedience and works at moderate distraction levels, such as local parks at off-peak hours and neighborhood walks, so your dog can learn without being overwhelmed.

What does the reactive dog program cost?

$4,485 for the three-week program, with an e-collar included. It is listed on our plans and pricing page next to the two-week board and train. Payment plans are available. Call us today to learn more about payment options.

How old does my dog need to be?

Your dog needs to be at least 20 weeks old to start a board and train with us. We do not run a separate puppy program, so a younger puppy waits until then.
